El Granada History

Vintage-style advertisement for Granada as a tourist destination, with text and illustration of a person on a hill.

GCSD was the recipient of a priceless trove of historic photos donated by Barbara Vanderwerf, the author of the wonderful book, “Granada, A Synonym for Paradise.” GCSD Board member Barbara Dye reached out to Vanderwerf for help with the history of the Burnham Strip she wrote for the GCSD website. Vanderwerf donated her remaining photographs and documents to the Half Moon Bay History Association, with a provision that they be available for GCSD to use in a future museum exhibit in the Community Recreation Center or elsewhere.
