GCSD actively participated in the development of the Quarry Park Bicycle Pump Track that opened in the Summer of 2022 and was a proud financial supporter of this community gathering spot! This was a great partnership between GCSD, San Mateo County Parks, Coastside Mountain Bikers and the San Mateo County Parks Foundation.
Outdoor Education Program
GCSD is a proud supporter of the Junior Land Stewards program run by Coastside Land Trust. Through this program, fourth graders at El Granada Elementary School have many opportunities to spend time outdoors and learn about local wildlife and plants. The students walk to Quarry Park twice, listening to nature, doing nature journaling, drawing local plants, and learning about the history of the community. Students from the high school Agriculture Program and Environmental AP classes serve as docents for the students. To see everything they accomplished this year, check out their slideshow HERE.
