Application Instructions
You must have ALL applicable items below to submit an application. Applications may be submitted via email, in person or by mail. To apply in person, we are located at 504 Avenue Alhambra, 3rd Floor in El Granada. Mail applications to: PO Box 335, El Granada, CA 94018. please call (650) 726-7093
You must submit the following items:
- Completed Application Form: You will need the following information to complete the Application Form:
- Assessor’s Parcel Number (APN)
- Address Number (if assigned) and Street Name
- Lot and Block Number
- Owner’s name, address, and phone number
- Agent’s name, address, and phone number (if applicable)
- Contractor’s name, address, and phone number
- Square Footage of the Parcel
- Square Footage of the Structure and Number of Bedrooms and Bathrooms
- Planning Approval Letter: You must provide verification that the project has received Planning Approval from the City or County (whichever is applicable). A copy of the Planning Approval Letter from the Agency must be provided with your Application. Verification that no appeals have been filed or are pending against your project may also be required. (A “Ready to Issue” notice may be submitted in lieu of the planning letter.)
- Grant Deed: A copy of the recorded Grant Deed with a legal description, or (in lieu of the legal description), a metes and bounds description, or survey of the parcel.
- Site and Project Plans: You must provide a set of building plans that include the following pages:
- Site Plan and/or a Topographical Map depicting the building footprint, the location of any proposed or existing easements and/or water wells, and the location of all trees.
- Floor Plan
- Elevations
- Plumbing Plan that includes the location of the proposed sewer lateral and cleanout.
- Owner Designation of Agent Form (if applicable): To assign an Agent to act on the parcel owner’s behalf, an authorization signed by the parcel owner(s) must be submitted with your application. This can either be a letter written and signed by the Owner or a signed Owner Designation of Agent form provided by the District.
- Application Fee: A check payable to the Granada Community Services District for $150.00. This fee is non-refundable. We do not accept credit cards.
Upon receipt of your completed application, staff will review the project plans and other required documents, verify availability of a sewer line to serve your project, and verify the number of sewer assessment(s), if any, levied on the parcel. One Equivalent Residential Unit (ERU) of sewer capacity (221 gallons per day) is needed for each dwelling unit. You will be advised if an assessment or portion thereof must be purchased for your project.
The District will perform a site inspection of the parcel to assess the proposed sewer connection. You will be informed of any special issues or requirements concerning connection to the District’s facilities. A copy of the site inspection report is available upon request.
The District will hold your application until the City or County is ready to issue the building permit for your project. Upon your receipt of the “Permit Ready to Issue Notice”, please call the District office at (650) 726-7093 to schedule an appointment to obtain your sewer permit. Be prepared to pay all fees associated with your permit.
